1997 Sine Qua Non The Complicator Pinot Noir Shea Vineyard Oregon USA 750ml
Description:
A very rare Sine Qua Non Pinot Noir of which only 1044 bottles were made!
From original Sine Qua Non release letter:
"This name and pencil drawing are in reference to my supposed fondness for complicating simple things whenever possible (a completely unwarranted downright nasty accusation from my own employees; distressingly, one that is even supported by my own wife) and my weakness for fine horology. A fine watch is only marginally defined for the superior timekeeping ability, but should be largely appreciated for the utterly extravagant and frivolous "complications" that are built for no rational reason. They mostly exist to show off just how many of them can be crammed into such a tiny space. I have to admit this idea, the whole concept, is very appealing to me, and so this pencil drawing became the label for utterly difficult 1997 Pinot Noir and all the gyrations we had to go through to get this wine made."
"...We have made a very, very small amount of Pinot Noir again in 1997. As was the case in 1996, the fruit is once again from the great SHEA VINEYARD in Oregon's Yamhill County. Although 1997 - again like 1996 - was not a spectacular year, it was one that yielded a wine that is elegant, classy, mild-mannered, soft and silky with a pretty berry/smoky nose and a satiny mouth feel.
Not a Pinot that acts like a Cabernet, but a Pinot Pinot. We named it THE COMPLICATOR and we made a whopping 174 six-packs. Yep, that's it.
Therefore we will only offer this wine to a very small group of customers on our mailing list. If you are reading this, then YOU are one of them. If you indeed want your allocation etc...
After that. all bets are off and we'll drink the juice ourselves."
