"The Boot was originally called THE GOOD GIRL OF 2000 and it was going to be the counter, or companion wine (depending on one's point of view), to the pure Roussanne which is to be named THE HUSSY. The whole thing was meant to be a playful homage to what crude men sometimes hope to combine in their spouses. With wine, or in life, this can result in conflict and so we have kept them separate for you. Now the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (BATF), which is the government agency that has to approve every single label before we can spring it onto innocent bystanders, rejected THE GOOD GIRL OF 2000 - gave it THE BOOT if you will - with the non-mandatory "explanation" that the label was simply "IN BAD TASTE". Aren't you glad that these good folks, apparently art critics all, in their wood-veneered cubbies are watching out for your sore eyeballs? Now you know how this wine came to be called THE BOOT."
